This is my area of expertise and as an endurance athlete myself I understand the nature of endurance training and the common injuries associated with sport. I can help prevent injury and maintain healthy muscles. I can also help identify potential postural issues and implement the appropriate treatment plan.
I can design a massage to help you train harder and recover faster, that's perfect for those times when you have been pushing yourself.
Sports massages are designed with four things in mind:
1/2 Hour Massage - $50*
1 Hour Massage - $90
1 Hour 30 Minute Massage $130
* 1/2 hour appointments are not available online and only available for existing customers via a phone call or text.
24 hours before your appointment no fee
12 hours before or the day or your appointment incurs a late cancelation fee for the total amount of your massage unless I can rebook the time I had allocated.
Laura Siddall - Professional Triathlete
"I am a global athlete so travel the world, training and racing. This makes it hard to build up your support network (e.g. massage and physio etc.) in places when you aren't there for very long.
However one of the things that I love about my summer's in Christchurch is knowing I have John's massages. John is an athlete himself and so understands the training I am doing and knows which areas of my body need specific work.
The massage is deep enough to get to the areas that need the work, but without leaving you beaten up for days. John is able to find the specific areas that need the work, yet be able to understand the treatment in the bigger context of my training. I come out feeling refreshed, knowing my body will be ready to take on my next training or race.
He's also always good to have a natter with and discuss all sorts of topics in very light hearted and fun way!"
Massage for Normal People
Not all of my clients are athletes. In fact most of my clients are normal everyday people who use massage for a multiple reasons from: body maintenance, stress relief, injury rehabilitation, posture assistance and for neuromuscular dysfunction.
Muscles inc Massage
I qualified as a massage therapist in 2002 with a diploma in Massage Therapy from the College Of Natural Medicine. I also have a certificate in advance sports massage.
As an athlete and a massage therapist I have a unique understanding of the recreational athletes requirements.
I have been the massage therapist on epic camps in France, Italy, Hawaii and here in New Zealand.
I have supported the House of Travel Triathlon since it inception.
As the business has developed and the Coaching side has grown it still all comes down to the simple fact of helping people
“One of the things I look forward to each time I return to New Zealand is being able to have my weekly massage from John! He is very clinical and thorough in his assessment of my body’s current state with his main focus being on the problem areas rather than a general body massage. As an athlete I am always confident that at the completion of my massage I will have a renewed sense of energy and know that my body will be in top form for hard training and racing!”
